Good news for those Nook HD and HD+ buyers that have been hoping for the option of installing a custom ROM onto their new tablets.  As you can see in the video above XDA-Developers member verygreen has accomplished ROOT on the HD+ device and apparently the same on the Nook HD.   Also, as the video insinuates, work is progressing on a version of the popular custom Android ROM CyanogenMod which should enable Nook HD 7 HD+ owners to install a full, unadulterated version of Android on the great Nook hardware.  With their advanced processors and awesome 1440 x 900 or 1920 x 1200 IPS displays, the Nook HD & HD+ are formidable pieces of hardware that are available at bargain prices.

The inclusion of MicroSD Card slots not only lets the memory of these tablets be easily expanded but also opens up the capability to dual boot the tablets between a custom ROM such as CyanogenMod or the Nook OS.   As many of you might know this was and is a commonly done thing on both the NookColor and NookTablet and part of why they were so popular.  We're looking forward to the first CyanogenMod release and the achievement of ROOT access is an important first step.
